Sole Food Street Farms is a three-acre, social enterprise urban farm in the heart of Vancouver. We provide low-barrier agricultural employment to folks from the Downtown Eastside neighbourhood and beyond who are facing challenges securing stable employment. Our mission is to empower individuals with limited resources by providing jobs, agricultural training, and inclusion in a supportive community.
Sole Food addresses the critical challenge of ensuring long-term, stable access to employment and healthy food for Vancouver’s most vulnerable residents. We are leaders in a worldwide movement that recognizes urban agriculture as an essential component of sustainable, resilient local food systems.
Each year, the farm produces approximately 15 tons of fresh food. Two-thirds of this produce is sold to local restaurants, farmers markets, and through weekly harvest box programs, which generates essential revenue to help sustain our operations. The remaining third is donated directly to food-insecure individuals and families through partnerships with community organizations operating in the DTES. We have proven that urban agriculture can be a powerful tool for social change — creating green jobs, addressing food insecurity, and fostering community connection all at once. As we continue to grow and deepen our impact, we remain rooted in the belief that good food and good work can heal people and cities alike.
Who we are.
